What are the Body Language workouts all about?

Peter Fernley is an exercise scientist with over 30 years experience in the health and fitness industry. Body Language Personal Training specializes in 1-on-1 individually designed training programs. We also offer 1-on-2 and personalized small group training classes with our signature mix of strength, cardio and core. An expert personal trainer, who will ensure you exercise at a level in line with your current fitness goals, closely supervises these classes. Every time you come in, for either an individual or group session, you can be guaranteed a different and new challenge that will work every muscle in your body!

What tools do you use to measure and interpret the weight status of your clients for their initial fitness assessment?

We use the BodyMetrix system, a professional-grade body composition assessment tool which utilises unique ultrasound technology coupled with BodyView reporting software to provide a wealth of information directly relative to diet and exercise, so we can accurately set and monitor your fitness goals.

The results will show us your:

  • Body Fat %
  • Body Scans (Tracking Fat Loss & Muscle Gain)
  • Point-Specific Measurement Thickness
  • Record Circumference Measurements
  • WHR (Waist-to-Hip Ratio)
  • BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)
  • BMI (Body Mass Index)
  • Relative Disease Risk
  • Lean Body Mass

How does the timetable work?

Personal training sessions are booked with your individual trainer and in most cases are a consistent time each week. Most memberships include a free Saturday morning super session. In addition you can book into a weekday small group personal training session. We tend to keep these classes to a maximum of six people. Drop in class $22 or purchase a ten class pass for $190. A weekday small group personal training session can be added to any package for $15 a week.

How long have you been open?

Body Language Personal Training Studio opened in 2007. We have a large number of our clients who are still training with us on a regular basis 8 years after we first opened. Given the great success of our long-term clients, we know we can provide you with a level of service that will enhance your lifestyle way beyond the 1-3 hours per week you spend at our studio.

What is HIIT training?

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is structured short bursts of maximum effort with shorter amounts of rest set up in a Circuit. This style of training has proven to be one of the best ways to burn fat, improve cardio, and strengthen your body in a short amount of time.

How fast will I lose weight?

You can expect a .5 to 1kg loss of body fat weekly. You might drop some more on your first week, but that’s usually mostly water.

How many days do I need to work out?

You will come to our studio and workout with us 2-3 times a week, but you’ll also be asked to do at least 2 days of cardio on your own. Your membership includes access to the gym outside of your scheduled sessions.

What should I eat before I work out?

You should eat something light 30 to 60 minutes before your workout, like a piece of toast or a protein shake. Don’t be starved or stuffed is our easy to remember advice.

What should I eat after I work out?

Focus on getting a good balance of macronutrients. Ex: 20 grams protein, 20 grams carbs, 5 grams fat. This could come in the form of a protein shake, eggs on toast, or a chicken and salad sandwich, depending on the time of day you train.

How many calories does it take to burn one kilo of fat?

It takes 7000 calories to gain or lose one kilo. To lose half a kilo per week, you need to decrease your calories by 500 every day. This is best done by cutting 250 calories out of your diet and burning the other 250 through activity.
